Chris Sailer Kicking “TOP 12″ P Corbin Daly Commits to Texas!

Longtime Chris Sailer Kicking student and “TOP 12″ Member Punter Corbin Daly has committed to Texas.  He chose Texas over many other schools. The big and strong Daly will be a huge added value to the Longhorns.

Daly is a big time talent.  He has attended multiple Chris Sailer Kicking camps and has impressed since day 1.

Some of those highlights include:

  • Member of the “TOP 12”
  • NC Nike Fall Camp Champion
  • NC Nike Fall Camp Punt Champion
  • 2013 Vegas Event Punt Finalist

Overall, he is one of the very best prospects in the nation without a doubt.  I expect him to have a huge college career.  Well deserved!

College Camps, How to Act?

If you are attending a college camp this summer, here are a few tips to help you maximize the experience and get noticed for the right reasons.

  • Always go in with a positive outlook. Positive attitudes will not just help you mentally, it can help a coach evaluate you as someone he would like on his team.

  • Get rid of distractions. Camp is important and it deserves your full attention. Focus on the task at hand and not on your smart phone. This means paying attention even when you are not the focus…because you just might be! Always act as if your coach is standing behind you.
  • Remain calm and stay confident. Coaches watch for how you react to negativity. This includes missing kicks. Keep your head up and maintain a “get ‘em next time” attitude.
  • Maintain your respect and listen to suggestions. “Yes sir coach, let me try that” is a simple way you can show respect for the coaches position AND for what he is saying. Coaches don’t expect you to be as good today as you are going to be tomorrow. Let them know you are willing and eager to improve.
  • Always compete at your best. Most coaches are more competitive than their players. They will respect a player who is always giving their best.

Remember, you are not in your hometown anymore. Players at college camps will have skills that can surprise you. You are literally “Kicking it up a notch”. Chris Sailer Kicking wishes you success!

A Quality Highlight Tape Can Make a Difference…

A quality highlight video showing your kicking/punting skills can be invaluable in the college recruiting process. A video that is professionally filmed and edited will go a long way to show coaches that you are serious about your kicking career.

At Chris Sailer Kicking, we are now pleased to offer highlight tapes of Kickers/Punters who attend our camps. Our experience has taught us what coaches are looking for in a highlight tape, and we provide the angles and results that they wish to see.

When your tape is produced you own it and you are welcome to do with it as you please. We of course suggest you email it to coaches, add it to your Chris Sailer Kicking Player Ranking Profile and your NCSA Player Profile. With YouTube the second largest search engine in the world, you should upload it there as well, making sure you use some appropriate keywords.

You have invested time, hard work, and money into moving forward with your kicking career. Take the next step and get a quality highlight video made. You can learn more about the videos available at Chris Sailer Kicking Camps by visiting our website.

Chris Sailer Kicking Keeping a Close Eye on Potential Draft Picks this Weekend…

Here at Chris Sailer Kicking we’ll be watching the NFL draft with great interest this weekend. We have some terrific alumni available for the draft. Here are some names of potential picks to keep an eye on:

Dustin Hopkins – Florida State, Kicker – Dustin hit on an FSU record 145 straight PATs putting him 6th on the all-time NCAA PAT streak list. He enters the draft as the number one kicking prospect in the country with BleacherReport.com predicting he could be a ten year kicker in the league. Good luck Dustin, we’ll be watching.

Jeff Locke – UCLA, Punter – This left-footer has a booming left and has been ranked in the top 100 players in this draft by several sources including NFL.com. Locke’s 44.58 yard career punting average for the Bruins ranks him second all-time at the school. We have high hopes for Jeff, and look forward to seeing him play on Sundays.

Quinn Sharp – Oklahoma State, Kicker – Quinn is OSU’s first three-time All-American. He has exceptional skills as a punter and kicker, averaging over 46 yards per punt last year and hitting on 85% of his field goals. BleacherReport.com compares him to the Viking’s Chris Kluwe. It’s been a lifelong goal of Quinn to play in the NFL. We’re rooting for you Quinn!

Ryan Allen – Louisiana Tech, Kicker – Ryan is the only kicker ever to win the Ray Guy Award in two consecutive years, 2011 and 2012. He averaged 48 yards on 45 kicks last year, and has an 85 yarder as his personal best. NFL.com’s Gil Brandt says it all with his comment “Allen has a very, VERY strong leg.” That he does. Best wishes this weekend Ryan!

Scott Kovanda – Ball State, Kicker – Scott was a finalist for this year’s Ray Guy Award. In 2012 only six of his punts were even returned, averaging over 40 yards per kick. Scott referred to his NFL combine visit as a job interview and compared the experience to speed dating. Go get ‘em Scott.

Zach Brown – Portland State, Kicker – NFL.com’s Senior Analyst Gil Brandt comments that “The ball just seems to jump off of his leg”. Zach’s real last name is Ramirez, but he used Brown at Portland State, where he hit on 17 of 18 FGs in 2012. At the school’s Pro Day he hit 6 out of 6 on his FG attempts hitting on 2 from 55 yards. Best of luck Zach, we look forward to seeing your winning smile in the NFL!

Quinn Sharp – Player Profile – Upcoming Draft Status

With the impending NFL draft, we would like to recognize another Chris Sailer Kicking alum, Quinn Sharp.

The versatile player has both skills as a Kicker and as a Punter. Quinn has had quite the college career at Oklahoma State University. He is the program’s first ever 3-time All-American. In 2010 he won the award as a Punter, and in 2011 and 2012 he was recognized as an All-American Kicker. He had a career punting average of almost 46 yards (45.9) which led active NCAA punters, and set a new OSU record. He had a career field goal accuracy of 84.7%, placing him second in the nation among active Kickers in the NCAA.

NFL.com notes his leg strength, particularly on kickoffs, and his 5-second plus hang times when punting inside the twenty. BleacherReport.com says he has a “NFL leg” and compares him to the Minnesota Vikings’ Chris Kluwe (another  CSK alum).

Quinn has always dreamed of being an NFL player, but Kickers are rarely drafted. In spite of that, there are those that expect him to go in the 6th or 7th round. Some analysts say his versatility could have him going as high as the 4th round.

Even if he goes to an NFL camp undrafted, he will certainly make his dream of playing pro ball come true. Chris Sailer Kicking is excited to watch the draft this week, and look forward to seeing our friend Quinn Sharp playing this fall on Sundays.
