Setting & Chasing Your Goals: Obtaining All Chris Sailer Kicking Shirt Colors

The question that I get asked all the time is: “When should my son/daughter begin attending your kicking/punting camps?”

This is a complicated question with not one, but many possible answers.

Mostly, my answer is:  “When your son/daughter is ready mentally to handle a camp, not just physically”.

The purpose is to reach your personal goals, not compete with everyone else’s.  Take a look at the objectives that I would set for my son/daughter if kicking/punting was what they had hoped to focus on.  Now, Kicking/Punting is a path to the future.  In this future, a college education is 100% while a place in the NFL is only achieved by less than 1%.

Really, it is all about chasing and obtaining all of those Chris Sailer Kicking colored shirts…

1.) So how do you obtain all colored shirts?  Of course, through hard work and dedication.

This means you must start early.  You are able to attend Chris Sailer Kicking lessons and camps as young as 6th Grade.  You can progress by continuing your training in 7th , 8th , 9th grade . . . all the way through high school, college, etc.  At this level you can collect black, white, navy, green, gray, orange, purple, maroon, and so on though attending Chris Sailer Kicking regional, national and international camps at various locations.  Each shirt is a sign of your hard work and dedication.  What do these color mean? Nothing, just that you have put in the time and the effort toward your craft. The more colors you have, the more camps you have attended.

Other colors are much more meaningful. What do they mean you ask?  Let’s have a look.

2.) The Light Blue Chris Sailer Kicking Shirt (Underclassmen Invitational Logo) = You have been invited to attend the Underclassmen Invitational.

Who is invited? Dedicated sophomores, freshman and youth football players & THEIR PARENTS.  The future for a college education begins here.  This camp was created at the request of college coaches.  You receive instruction and meet your national/international peers.  They will be your friends for life.  You must compete with the best to prepare yourself for your future.  This is the best camp in your younger years that you will ever attend.

3.) The Teal Chris Sailer Kicking Shirt (Camp Champion Logo) = You have attended a Chris Sailer Kicking Regional Camp AND were the overall kicking/punting champion.

These camps take place all over the United States (CA, GA, IL, TX, NC, WA, NJ, AZ, HI, FL currently).  This goal is not an easy one.  Only the best of the best get to stick this feather in their cap.  This is a time to step up against many of the top specialist in the world and make your mark on the national scene.

4.) The Yellow Chris Sailer Kicking Shirt (TOP 12 & Event Elite Logo) = You attended one of the prestigious Las Vegas National Events and were named as a member of the “TOP 12” or “Event Elite”.

Twelve kickers/punters are selected every January in Las Vegas from over the  three hundred kickers/punters in attendance.  An additional fifteen to thirty kickers/punters are selected every May in Las Vegas from over two hundred kickers/punters in attendance.  The odds are against you and being chosen is a huge accomplishment.  This is the best of the best, period.  You must show D1 scholarship ability to earn this color of shirt.

5.) The FBU Chris Sailer Kicking Shirt (FBU Logo) = You have competed not only on a specialist stage, but an all-position football camp stage.

At FBU camps you get instruction at the highest level through the Chris Sailer Kicking staff.  We include Field Goal, Kickoff and Punt film analysis.  FBU is a great venue for exposure through multiple resources even above and beyond what Chris Sailer Kicking provides.  Perhaps, even most importantly, you can get invited to the “TOP GUN” Camp.

6.) The FBU Chris Sailer Kicking TOP GUN Shirt (FBU Top Gun Logo) = You have qualified to participate in the TOP GUN camp through an FBU regional camp.

The exposure that goes along with this opportunity is through the roof!  From this camp, Chris Sailer Kicking will select 7th, 8th and 9th grade FBU All-Americans.  We Also select 2 kickers and 2 punters to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.  If you are selected as a FBU All-American, you will wear the most honorable Chris Sailer Kicking colored shirt in the nation:

The U.S. Army All-American Jersey!

7.) The Red Chris Sailer Kicking Shirt (Chris Sailer Kicking Staff Logo) = This means that you have proved yourself at the high school level both athletically & physically.

It also means that you have the character to represent Chris Sailer Kicking, to coach and to mentor the next generation of specialists.  This may be the most coveted colored shirt of all.  You begin at the student staff level, can move on to college staff, and eventually you can become a Chris Sailer Kicking Senior Staff Member.

8.) The College Jersey (regardless of color) = This means that your hard work and dedication (and shirt colors earned) has paid off in the ultimate manner.  Hashtag your college and future endeavors for life.

9.) The NFL Jersey (regardless of color).  Whether you make it or not, this is the icing on the cake.  You get to tell your future children that you did it.  Whether you are an All-Pro, a starter or you get cut, the best part is you still have your college education to fall back on.

The color journey and Chris Sailer Kicking journey is complete!

Youth football will earn you a chance to play high school football. High school football will earn you a chance to play college football.  College football will earn you a college degree that you might have not obtained without the help of football.  College football will earn you a chance to play professional football (NFL, CFL, AFL, etc.).  All of the above will earn you a chance to grow from youth, to a young man, to an adult, to a father.  The opportunity and experience will shape the rest of your life.

The goal here is to end your kicking/punting career with this pile of shirts.  You will look back one day and reflect on one of the best times of your life.

See you soon…

2016 U.S. Army All-Americans Selected! 2016 FBU Youth All Americans Selected!

The FBU Top Gun camp took place July 17-18, 2015 in Dublin, OH.  Over 1,000 of the world’s best athletes competed in Top Gun this year.  Chris Sailer Kicking and Rubio Long Snapping ran 11 regional FBU camps in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Charlotte, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Orlando, Dallas, Columbus, New Jersey and Miami searching for the nation’s best specialists.  Those athletes were invited to Top Gun to compete for the most prestigious All-American Games in the world for youth and high school athletes.  Over 150 specialists assembled in Ohio taking advantage of this massive opportunity.  Take a look at the results….

2021 FBU Youth All-American
Carter Davis (FL) – Carter is a special young talent.  Heading into only the 7th grade, he stepped up as if he were already in high school.  He hit field goals of 35, 40 and 45 yards to beat out Connor Lytton for this honor.  He excels mentally as much as physically.  Carter was a staff favorite from the start.  The future is bright for Carter.  The world will see him on center stage in San Antonio in January.

Other 2021 Standouts: Connor Lytton, Dom Pittman

2020 FBU Youth All-Americans
Hayden Olsen (GA) – Hayden is one of the most consistent field goal kickers that we have ever seen at this age.  Most importantly, he performs under pressure.  Now a back to back youth All-American, Hayden hopes to follow in the footsteps in the likes of Rodrigo Blankenship & Skyler Southam who both went on to become U.S. Army All-Americans.

Brock Travelstead (GA) – Brock is a FBU veteran. He came up just short last year, but wasn’t going to be denied this year.  He is a great young athlete with a very strong leg for his age.  Brock enjoys pressure and seems to do his best when the most is on the line.  He should excel in San Antonio.

Other 2020 Standouts: Tommy Christakos, Ian Stadtler, Paker Hannon, Kellen Grave De Peralta, Damian Chowaniec

Class of 2019 MVP
Griffin Crosa (OH) – Griffin was selected as the Class of 2019 MVP because of his ability to do all three skills at a high level.  He shows great future college ability as a kicker and punter.  Griffin is a talented player that should compete with the best in his class for years to come.

Other 2019 Standouts: Brayden Johnson, Jason Stricker, Brandon Dickerson, Hayden Hairston, Cole Johnson, Mason Molique, Billy McConnell

Class of 2018 MVP
Chris Dunn (NC) – Chris is a big time young talent.  He dominated all competitions throughout the weekend.  He already hits 55 yard field goals and puts the ball deep into the end zone on kickoffs.  Chris is a great athlete and competitor.  The future is bright.

Other 2018 Standouts: Nate Craft, Esteban Flores, Matthew Jaeger, Chanse Lanham, Justin Smith

Class of 2017 MVP
Adam Stack (HI) – Adam is proving early on that he is without a doubt a D1 scholarship pick.  The Chris Sailer Kicking top rated kicker and punter won both the field goal and kickoff competitions.  Adam is an early favorite to earn a spot as a 2017 U.S. Army All-American.  He is the real deal.

Other 2017 Standouts: Alex Usry, Cooper Graham, Liam Bunnell, Austin Burnham, Matt Hellen, Tristan Meyer, Billy Mitchell, Tyler Padilla, Brian Papazian, Marco Salani, Zach Stearns, Jacob Tanguay, Jake Brickell

2016 U.S. Army All-Americans
Punters
Drue Chrisman (OH) – Drue is a very impressive punter all the way around.  He has the size, strength and athleticism to dominate the next level.  He punts for excellent hang time and distance.  He consistently his 45 plus yard punts with 4.8 plus second hang time. He was the top punter over the course of the two days and the very first to be named U.S. Army All-American.  The Ohio State commit is going to be a great addition to the history of this prestigious game.

Marshall Long (NC) – Marshall stepped up big time and in the process earned his spot as an All-American.  He is big, tall, strong and athletic.  Marshall consistency punted the ball 45 plus yards with 4.6 second hang time.  When it came time to compete, he took down several punters that are already committed to major D1 programs.  He is a D1 scholarship pick and this selection will vault him into the national spot light.

Kickers
JJ Molson (Canada) – JJ was a favorite to earn a selection coming into Top Gun and he didn’t disappoint.  He hit consecutive field goals of 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 63 and 65 yards to earn the first U.S. Army All American kicking position.  The UCLA commit is a special one.  The long time Chris Sailer Kicking student is well deserving.

Skyler Southam (Utah) – Skyler Southam is the #1 kicker in the nation.  He defended that title with another outstanding performance.  His field goals and kickoffs are both superb.  Skyler dominates when it counts the most.  The BYU commit is a big time player that will make a difference in this game.

Other 2016 Standouts: Connor Culp, Jared Smolar, Bailey Raborn, Kekoa Sasaoka, Braxton Pickard, JD Dellinger, David Cote, Seth Kujawski, Jared Porter, Jose Borregales, Butch Hampton, Austin Kent, Blake Patterson, Collin Riccitelli, Eric Silvester, Cole Bunce, Alex Woznick, Ben Rice, Noah Ball, Dane Borges, Edwin Noyes, Andrew Anckle

Chris Sailer Kicking Summer Camps 2014!

The most common question so far about the summer of 2014 has been, “There are so many camps, how do I know which camps to attend and how many camps should I attend?”

I will do my best to give you some clear and simple tips.

What types of camps are there?

College Camps:
•    These are essentially tryouts that are run by the Universities themselves.
•    Seniors to be should attend these camps.
•    Younger players may want to attend one or two of these simply for experience.  (Unless you are the #1 or #2 ranked specialist in the nation)
•    Register for these camps through the University by either going to their website or calling the football office.
•    Don’t expect great instruction.  Remember, these are basically tryouts.  Most eyes will be on the best of the best.
•    Camp size ranges from 75-250 Kickers, Punters & Long Snappers.
•    NO RANKINGS
•    BLOG 1 on College Camps
•    BLOG 2 on College Camps
•    BLOG 3 on College Camps

Chris Sailer Kicking Underclassmen Event & “TOP 12” & Event Elite:
•    These are the ONLY 2 INVITE ONLY camps that Chris Sailer Runs.  You must be invited to attend.
•    You should 100% attend if you are invited.
•    These camps should be your #1 priority. Period.
•    Underclassmen = Juniors, Sophomores, Freshman, or 8th Graders for the coming year.
•    Underclassmen is a combination of education & competition.  Parents should 100% attend as this camp is it is as much for them.
•    Underclassmen camp size 50-75 Kickers & Punters.
•    “TOP 12” & “Event Elite” = Best of the best in the world invited based on performance in Las Vegas in either January or May.
•    “TOP 12” & “Event Elite” is open to the public for viewing.
•    Rankings will be updated based on performance.

CSK – 1 Day Camps in Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA & Los Angeles, CA:
•    Most popular CSK camps that provide the entire experience.  (Instruction, Parent Involvement, Film Analysis, Competition, Rankings)
•    Those entering senior year should attend 1-2 of these camps.
•    Younger players should attend at least one of these.

FBU Camps
•    Invite only camps run by FBU (A Chris Sailer Kicking Partner)
•    If you are invited, you should 100% attend at least 1 of these camps.
•    Expect great instruction and exposure (Chris Sailer & Chris Rubio present)
•    Regional camps in Orlando, FL, San Diego, CA, Dallas, TX, Los Angeles, CA Seattle, WA & Dublin, OH.
•    Top Gun camp in Dublin, OH July 18-19, 2014.
•    2 Kickers, 2 Punters & 2 Long Snappers will be selected to play in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Top Gun Camp.
•    Youth specialists will be selected to play in the East Bay All-American Games!  Other specialists will be invited to play in the FBU Championships.
•    Register for these camps by calling FBU and using the Code CS14
•    Rankings on www.ChrisSailerKicking.com are updated based on performance.

So, of course, now you have follow up questions.

Q: My son is a senior to be, won’t his legs get tired?

A: If you want to play college football, this summer should be 100% dedicated to kicking & punting.  To answer the question….YES, they will get tired.  You have to be smart about laying out your summer schedule.  You cannot kick/punt everyday.  Your body needs rest to stay healthy and maintain the ability to perform at your highest level.  Try not to kick/punt on consecutive days.  If you have to kick/punt on consecutive days, take 2 days of rest before the next time you kick/punt.

Q: Many camps are scheduled for the same day?  And if I cannot kick/punt on consecutive days I am going to miss out on many opportunities, so what do I do?

A: It is impossible to be in 2 places at once.  So sometimes you will have to make tough choices.  A college coach can schedule you to come kick/punt for them on an alternate date.  As long as the University is putting on another camp on that day, you can go kick/punt for them.  The coach has to be willing to do this for you.  This is how you will know how bad they really want you.  Call the coach and try to schedule and alternate date.

Q: How do I prioritize which camps are most important?

A: 1. “TOP 12” & “Event Elite”, 2. Underclassmen “Invite” Event, 3. FBU Top Gun, 4. Chris Sailer Kicking 1-Day Camps, 5. College Camps, 6. FBU Regional Camps

Q: Camps costs and the travel costs associated with these camps can be very expensive, so what do I do?

A: You will have to prioritize based on the above.  It is important to see other parts of the country if possible.  This will one day make the college decision process much easier.  Again, tough choices.

Q: I am getting a lot of “Invites” from competitors of yours?  Do I have to go to these?

A: I can write a book on this.  But to keep it simple, No.  Invites aren’t invites if they invite everyone.  Our website is used everyday to solicit.  Clever advertising doesn’t equal a quality camp.  Chris Sailer Kicking is the #1 most trusted resource for college coaches nationwide.  Actions speak louder than words.  Believe in Chris Sailer Kicking and will you not be disappointed.

Tips:

•    Be realistic about your skill level when it comes to college camps.  Remember, these are tryouts.  Attend college camps at the level in which you are capable of playing.  This will give you college options.  Attend D1, D2, D3, NAIA, etc. camps where you have a realistic chance of playing.  Otherwise you will simply be spinning your wheels.  Be open minded in your search.
•    There is no way to figure out 100% which Universities will be offering scholarships.  Things are always changing.  Almost every University will take 1 Kicker, 1 Punter & 1 Long Snapper each year as either a scholarship or preferred walk on athlete.  So, all college camps provide opportunity.  Don’t stress yourself out trying to figure out everything that happens behind the scenes.  Their is NO LIST.
•    If a college doesn’t have a kicking camp (common with lower level schools), call the coach and ask for a day that you can kick/punt for them.
•    Don’t kick at a college camp if your are not 100%.  You want to show at your absolute best.  Your performance/results/charts will be used by not only that University, but shared with others as well.  Word travels fast both in the positive and negative.
•    When you travel, take advantage of the opportunity. Visit Universities in the area.  Get a feel for the area or region of the country.  Do not be afraid to simply walk on campus and into the football office.  Tell them you are a Chris Sailer Kicking recruit and would love a tour.  Most Universities will treat you very well.
