Chris Sailer Kicking – Rankings & Ratings Explained

Here is a detailed explanation of how Chris Sailer Kicking Rankings and Ratings are compiled.

1. We will only rank a player that we have seen in person or who have completed a Chris Sailer Kicking Virtual Evaluation using CSK Standardized Testing.  An in person evaluation can be at a private lesson, group lesson, camp, or national event run by Chris Sailer Kicking. College camps are NOT taken into consideration. Virtual Evaluations are done by registering on ChrisSailerKicking.com and following the exact format required. The evaluation must and will only be done by Chris Sailer or a Chris Sailer Kicking Senior Staff Member. We do not use anyone outside of the company for evaluations.  This is the only way we can assure 100% accuracy.

2.  Our rankings are mostly subjective, not simply objective.  We focus on our evaluation, not just stats.  Stats may be misleading at times.  We are the professionals at what we do.  Our rankings will take the following criteria into consideration: 1. Current Skill Level, 2. Potential Skill Level, 3. Performance Under Pressure.  We look for the following: technique, strength, leg speed, athleticism, mental toughness, competitiveness, confidence, tee sizes to name a few.

3. The Star Rating & Ranking system is as follows.  After every camp, we evaluate each player.  They are then added to or adjusted on the PLAYER RANKINGS site of Chris Sailer Kicking.com

Number Ranking System:
Will list the exact number rank of the player from (#1 through #……)  #1 being the very best in the nation, and so on.

The Star Rating and the Number Ranking is an evaluation based each players ability at that time of their career.  So, younger players usually do not receive 4 and 5 star rankings right away.  Older players earn the higher ratings as they begin to show more of the criteria necessary to be considered a top college prospect.  Rankings change on a daily basis.  You can always improve your rank the next time we see you or you complete a virtual evaluation.

*Understand, rankings are not complete until fall camp begins your freshman year of college.  We will see new players daily and the rankings will constantly be updated.  You have to work to maintain or increase your ranking.  You are only as good as the last time we saw you.  We cannot predict the future.  You will see that we will list (Student Since: – to show when we first evaluated a player & Last Evaluation: – to show the last time we evaluated that player).  These pieces of information will help both the players and college coaches better understand the accuracy of the rating and ranking.

4.  Once a player is ranked you are in our system, you will remain ranked until you begin your fall camp as a freshman in college.  You will never be dropped in the rankings.  However as we see new players or current players improve their ranking, you will slide naturally.  Again rankings are not complete until fall camp begins your freshman year of college.  That is when the rankings are as accurate as can be and are removed from the website.  You can increase your ranking by attending any future lesson, camp, event or virtual evaluation.  A rating and ranking becomes much more accurate the more often we see a player.  We see improvement, we get to know a player mentally, and the player generally becomes much better physically and technically.  A college coach will always ask the question, “How many times have you worked with him?”  Why?  Because he wants to be sure that our evaluation is accurate and not a fluke.  He wants to be sure that we know that player mentally as well as possible before a large scholarship investment is made by the University.   Certain players are phenoms and earn 6 or 5 star rankings right off the bat.  It is just a no brainer.  But most must work hard to establish consistency and improvement over time.  Our confidence in you as a player is a BIG DEAL.  We have to know who and what it is we are recommending.

5. Once a player is ranked, we do not use season stats as a major factor to adjust rankings.  Because there are so many factors out of your control at the high school level (coach, opportunities, snapper, holder, field condition, etc.) most players never get the chance to put up big numbers – this will not hurt you.  Both we and college coaches understand this.  But, if you happen to be fortunate enough to put up great stats, this can help you.  We don’t put a huge amount of stock in your season stats, but a good season can definitely help prove that you are consistent over time and that you can perform well under pressure.

6.  Vegas statistics, Rising Seniors Invitational statistics, Underclassmen Invitational statistics.  Yes, they are great as they give us all something to look at.  However, they are NOT the only factor we take into consideration when updating the rankings.  They are a piece of the puzzle for sure, but there are many factors (see above #’s 1-7).  Please do not just look at the stats and send us a spreadsheet as to why you should be ranked ahead of someone else.  I promise you, we do a thorough evaluation that looks at all your kicks from the start to finish of any camp.  And we take into consideration past camp performances.  A bad statistical day isn’t going to effect the great statistical days that a player may have had in the past.  The statistics from Vegas, the Rising Seniors Invitational or the Underclassmen Invitational are big for many reasons, but please remember that we look at EVERYTHING.

7.  The Kicking and Punting Rankings are completely separate.  One does not effect the other and vice versa.  However, doing well in both is always a positive for college coaches.  Combo players are rare and are a hot commodity. You will always get ranked on your position of strength, unless you can prove without a doubt that you are a standout at both.

I am very confident in our player evaluations having 20+ years of experience. The ranking / rating is intended to help each player find the right college fit for THEM.  If you are ranked that is a tremendous accomplishment.  You should be proud of yourself.  No matter the ranking/rating, use it as motivation to continue to improve.  Remember, you are only in High School or Junior College.  This is only the beginning.  Keep working hard and you will achieve your goals.  We are here to help you reach your goals.  We are always here as a reference for you.  Please be sure to list Chris Sailer Kicking and contact information on all of your social media as well as in your correspondence with college coaches. I promise you, college coaches will notice.

So You Didn’t Make TOP 12, What Now?

For the past few weeks, you have been waiting anxiously to see if you were going to be selected to the TOP 12 Camp.  When the first 20 selections were announced, 20 kickers / punters were ecstatic.  Hundreds of others were upset, frustrated, angry, etc…. rightfully so.  As athletes and competitors the desire to succeed should run deep.

Couple ways to look at it….

You can be upset with me for not selecting you. You can be upset with yourself for not performing when it counted. You can even find a way to blame others, but, it is ultimately on you. The only thing you can control is how hard and smart you work. Everyone in Vegas is competing for the same spots. Don’t let anybody outwork you and you will see different results.

You need to use this as motivation to make sure you perform better. This is all up to you. The choice is yours.

If you are a Kicker / Punter that strives to be the best, you want to be at that TOP 12 camp this summer. Any single athlete that has been there (scholarship Kickers / Punters, All-Americans, NFL players) will tell you it is, by far, the best camp they have ever been to in their life. What you need to do is get back on the horse. Work smarter and harder. Your opportunity is waiting for you either at the Underclassmen Invitational or Rising Seniors Invitational. These are two massive exposure camps that will greatly impact you recruiting future. I WILL SEE YOU THERE!

The only camp that Chris Sailer Kicking would like to see you at this summer is INVITATIONAL WEEK. Class of 2022… The Rising Seniors Invitational (July 10-11, 2021) in Dallas, TX. REGISTER HERE. Classes of 2023, 2024, 2025 & 2026… The Underclassmen Invitational (July 15-16, 2021) in Dallas, TX. REGISTER HERE. There are no regional camps until the Fall. So Invitational Week is your time to shine. These camps are for Kickers, Punters & Combo Players!

I can’t wait to work with you all again this summer. #TeamSailer #PuntFactory

To be the best, train & compete with the best!

Your opportunity is waiting for you in Las Vegas. VEGAS XXXVIII (May 15-16, 2021)

At Vegas XXXIII, I will choose 20 additional TOP 12 Camp Invitees.  They will join the first 20 selected at the Invite Only TOP 12 Camp this summer.   This is a true invite only camp. I do NOT just hand out invites to get people to come to it. That would give me no credibility. I choose the best because they are the best. They will represent the TOP 12 and Chris Sailer Kicking forever.

Are you one of them? Time to decide. Prove to me, and the rest of the world, that you belong.

Or don’t. THE CHOICE IS YOURS…..

How Do I Qualify to play in the Polynesian Bowl This Year?

Chris Sailer Kicking & Rubio Long Snapping will be selecting a TOTAL of 14 All-Americans this year once again! Four of those of course are for the Polynesian Bowl (Class of 2022) on CBS Sports – 2 K/P/’s and 2 Long Snappers.

Q: HOW DO I QUALIFY TO BE A POLYNESIAN BOWL ALL-STAR THIS YEAR?

A: TWO STEPS!

  1. Get Selected to attend the TOP 12 Camp

  2. Attend the TOP 12 Camp in July & Dominate

Let’s Break it down step by step.  . .

STEP #1:  Get Selected to attend the TOP 12 Camp

Q: HOW DO YOU GET SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOP 12 Camp?

A1: Your best chance is to attend the January and/or May National Vegas Events.

At each of the Vegas Events (January & May) Sailer will select 20 athletes that dominated each camp and he feels could potentially be ready for the next level.

Apart from the 40 members selected from the Vegas events, Sailer will also have a maximum of FIVE Wild Card invites that he can give throughout the year. His choice. Any camp. All on Sailer and what he has seen and/or read about throughout the year.
