The Value of 1 on 1 Coaching

While practicing with the team is a great way to improve a player’s overall football abilities and helps create a solid base of teamwork, there are certain skills that are hard to master when working in a team situation. Some of the most notable examples of this are kicking and punting. In a normal practice situation, the Kicker does not get the opportunity to utilize these skills as often as is necessary to develop them to their fullest. Additionally, many great football coaches do not have the knowledge necessary to bring out the best in a Kicker or Punter. Because of this, finding 1 on 1 coaching for kicking and punting is essential—to help a player reach his potential.

A professional kicking instructor and kicking camps prove to be the best way to teach this important skill. The best in the business is Chris Sailer Kicking. In addition to providing the coaching necessary to develop the player and bring out the best, Chris Sailer Kicking is THE SOURCE for college recruiting and exposure as well—offering a wellounded package of benefits to up and coming Kickers and Punters of all skill levels.

Stay tuned for updates from our National Events this week in Las Vegas:

Justin Tucker Kicker for the Baltimore Ravens is having a phenomenal season and was just a few votes away from being selected for the Pro Bowl. Tucker has connected on 30 of 33 field goals this year and has been a reliable asset on special teams for the AFC North Champs Ravens.

Denver Broncos Long Snapper Aaron Brewer is another standout Rookie out of San Diego State. Brewer has started all 16 games this season and will look for his first playoff victory this weekend. Brewer beat out veteran Long Snapper Lonie Paxton in training camp and has never looked back.

Look for these two Rookies in the game’s most critical moments to see who comes out on top.

Chris Sailer Kicking and Rubio Long Snapping are proud of the success of these two great football players on and off the field.

3 Chris Sailer Kicking Alums to Play in this Weekend’s NFL Wild Card Playoff Round

This Weekends NFL Wildcard Playoff round has plenty of story lines. One to be noted is the rise of 3 Chris Sailer Kicking Alumni featured in this weekend’s games:

Kai Forbath Kicker for the Washington Redskins just wrapped up one of the finest seasons in the history of the NFL. Forbath set an NFL record for consecutive field goals to begin a career with 17 straight. Forbath and the Skins are playing the Seattle Seahawks this weekend and are looking to avenge their 2007 playoff elimination by the Seahawks.

Minnesota Vikings Rookie Kicker Blair Walsh was named to the 2012 NFC Pro Bowl Team. So far this season Walsh has:

  • Tied a team record for longest field goal — 56 yards (last Sunday in Houston).
  • Put his name in the NFL record books for most 50-plus field goals in a season — nine.
  • Made three 50-plus yard field goals (50, 53, 51) on Dec. 16 against St. Louis, tying an NFL record.
  • Logged the fourth most touchbacks in the league this season (49), which is the Vikings’ franchise record.

Walsh’s NFL record of nine field goals of 50-or more yards (hit on all 9) has put him in some elite company. He passed legendary kickers Morton Anderson, who is a Hall of Fame candidate, and Lions K Jason Hanson, who likely will be when he retires.

Look for Walsh this weekend in a re-match of last weeks game vs. the Green Bay Packers, in which Walsh hit the game winning field goal!

Wrapping up the 3 Chris Sailer Kicking Alums is the Baltimore Ravens Kicker Justin Tucker. Rookie Justin Tucker made 29 of 31 field goals with 48 touchbacks during the 2012 campaign.

Tucker is considered one of if not the top kickers in the AFC and to many was snubbed a Pro Bowl nod. Although, the honor went to 14 year NFL vet Phil Dawson, not bad company for a rookie kicker. Look for Tucker to be in consideration for many Pro Bowls in the future. Tucker and the Ravens will face the Indianapolis Colts this weekend!

Don’t miss these 3 star Kickers in their games this weekend! Three out of the four games this weekend will feature at least one Chris Sailer Kicking Alum!

Redskins Kicker Kai Forbath Sets NFL Record!

Chris Sailer Kicking Alum Kai Forbath continues his fantastic 2012 campaign by setting an NFL record for consecutive field goals to begin a career with 17 straight. The record was previously held by Garret Hartley of the New Orleans Saints. Forbath, kicked field goals of 45 and 42 in last Sundays win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Forbath joined the Redskins after an ineffective Billy Cundiff was released. Forbath won the job on an off day tryout where he beat out veteran kickers Olindo Mare and Josh Brown.

The Chris Sailer Alum is continuing an already outstanding kicking career in which he has already won the Lou Groza Award for the nations top kicker while at UCLA.

Look for Forbath this Sunday as he and the Redskins battle for the division crown versus their longtime rivals the Dallas Cowboys and another former CSK alum Dan Bailey!

Dan Bailey – The OT Clincher

Playing currently for the Dallas Cowboys, Chris Sailer trained kicker Dan Bailey is making people raise their eyebrows with his performance on the field. Signed up as a free agent last year, Bailey originally made his name playing college ball at Oklahoma State. Prior to that, local folks watched Bailey play in high school at Mustang High School in the same state. In those early years Bailey was awarded an all-state and conference ranking for his position as kicker, and he was also awarded all-city ranking as well. Bailey still holds his high school record of 50 yards for the longest scoring field goal.

Fast forward to current times, and Dallas has little complaint about their kicker pick with Bailey. He seems to have a knack for pulling teams through to a win when games go into overtime, which is the highest pressure situation for any kicker. San Francisco felt this impact when Bailey placed a 48 yard field goal against them in OT in 2011. This year, Bailey has pulled the same rabbit out of his hat three times against the Cleveland Browns, the Bengals, and the latest victim, the Pittsburg Steelers on December 16, 2012. All the effort has kept Dallas alive for the 2012 NFL Post Season play rather than an early Christmas dismissal.

Bryan Anger – Mr. Power Leg in Football Kicking

Bryan Anger, a Chris Sailer kicking alum, wasn’t always known as America’s second best football punter in the nation and NFL. That said, he’s regularly made an impression in his football career, starting early on. In his college punting years, Anger made the All-Pac First Team three years straight.

In 2012 he was picked up as a third round draft pick and signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Since then, the rookie has posted 82 punts with an average 47.5 yard distance in 14 games. His overall yardage kicked totals almost 4,000 yards. It’s no surprise his teammates have nicknamed Bryan the moniker, “Banger,” for his powerful kicking leg and consistency.

Some critics are noting Anger needs development on directional kicking, harnessing the apparent power he has in a focused result. This development for now is expected to come with experience and game play, with Bryan having only played one full season so far.

Saturday, February 23, 2013

6:00 p.m. – Social
7:00 p.m. – Dinner/Ceremony

Notre Dame will continue its great annual tradition by awarding its Knights of Honor award to Rex and Maureen Ralwinson and the Fritz B. Burns Foundation.  Rex and Maureen are the parents of three Notre Dame graduates, Justin ’91, Neil ’94 and Ian ‘97.  Rex served on the NDHS Board of Directors in the late 1990’s and, as a Director of the Fritz B. Burns Foundation (along with Maureen), was instrumental in the foundation’s major support and construction of the Fritz B. Burns Center for Arts and Technology.  The foundation’s support continued for the construction of the Br. Robert Hampton, CSC Science Building, the planned Joseph Rawlinson Aquatic Center (2013) and the renovation of the gymnasium (2014).  The service, devotion and generosity of the Fritz B. Burns Foundation and the Rawlinson Family is a gift that has served thousands of Notre Dame students and they are deserving recipients of the 2013 Knights of Honor Award.

Notre Dame High School also is pleased to announce it will honor several athletic inductees to its Hall of Fame preceding the Knight of Honor award presentation.  The Hall of Fame began inducting athletes in 2011 and this is the third induction class.

The 2013 inductees are:

Tony Salas ’57 (posthumous) – The first 2-Time All-CIF athlete, averaged 16.3 points per game as a basketball captain in his senior year.

Bud Fabian ’69 – 1st Team All Del Rey League and 1st Team All-CIF in 1968-69, he scored 66 points in a single game versus Cathedral High School (still a record). Bud went on to play for a nationallyanked Santa Clara University team 1970-72 before suffering a career-ending injury in 1973.

Escamillo (“Eski”) Viltz ’78 – A 2-Time All-CIF baseball star at NDHS.

Nigel Miguel ’81 – All-CIF, All American and McDonald’s All American standout at NDHS who led his team to a 19-5 record and Del Rey League title.  He played four years at UCLA and was the team’s leading scorer his senior year as the Bruins won the NIT championship.

Chris Sailer ’95 – Kicked a national record 22 field goals at ND and was a high school All-American.  A 2-time All-American at UCLA as a kicker and punter, still holding the UCLA record for longest field goal (56 yards).

Travis Johnson ’00 – A 2-Time All-CIF football star, Johnson also earned Parade, PrepStar, Football News and USA Today All American First Team honors in setting the NDHS career record for sacks (61), tackles for loss (77) and forced fumbles (14).  He was All-ACC his senior year at Florida State University before being selected as the 16th player of the first round of the NFL draft by the HoustonTexans in 2005.

Garrett Green ’06 – A 3-Time All CIF quarterback, Green led the Knights to three consecutive titles and is the winningest quarterback in NDHS history.  He also was a state finalist hurdler.  He continued his football career at USC and was a member of the national contending Trojans for four seasons.

Kai Forbath Hits Game Winner in OT to Beat Ravens!

Washington Redskins and Chris Sailer Kicking Alum Kai Forbath hit the game winning field goal in overtime Sunday to beat the AFC North Leading Baltimore Ravens. Forbath’s kick completed  a must win situation for the Redskins as they are battling for a playoff spot.

Since joining the Redskins the week leading up to their sixth game of the 2012 season, Forbath has made 14 straight field goals including a 48- and 49-yard field goals in the Ravens game. Forbath only needs two more successful makes to tie the NFL record for consecutive field goals made (16) to start a career.

A quote from Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan sums it up perfectly for the Chris Sailer Kicking Alum, “I’m glad he’s on our football team. That’s for sure, he’s made everything, and we gave him a game ball in front of the team. It doesn’t surprise me how he handles himself.”
