Chris Sailer Kicking Punter Nicholas O’Toole commits to West Virginia

The exposure that Chris Sailer Kicking gives to its players has never been more evident in the recent success story of Fullerton JC Punter Nicholas O’Toole.  A virtual unknown on the recruiting scene after his first year at Fullerton Junior College, O’Toole planned on returning to the school for his sophomore season. Those plans changed after the Chris Sailer Kicking National Event last month in Las Vegas.

After an impressive showing at the Event, O’Toole was named to the “Top 12” coming out of the camp and opened many eyes at the D1 level. The 6’4” 215 pound O’Toole possesses the ideal size and strength to thrive at the next level and into the NFL.

Chris Sailer Kicking introduced O’Toole to the staff at West Virginia University and to say they were impressed is an understatement, in fact they were so impressed they offered O’Toole a full scholarship. O’Toole will sign his letter of intent to play for the Mountaineers on National Signing Day February 6th 2013.

This is true example of the power of exposure and relationships in the world of Kicking and Punting and Chris Sailer Kicking has both. O’Toole no doubt has the skills and talent to warrant a D1 Scholarship, but he needed the added exposure and CSK gave it to him. Chris Sailer Kicking couldn’t be more excited and proud of the future that awaits Nicholas O’Toole at West Virginia.

Look for O’Toole to star for the Mountaineers in the coming years.

Chris Sailer Kicking has its First Super Bowl Champion

Chris Sailer Kicking Alum and Baltimore Raven Kicker Justin Tucker is a Super Bowl Champion! Tucker and the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling and event filled Super Bowl last night in New Orleans. Tucker again was instrumental in the Ravens win connecting on 2 of 2 field goals and adding 4 extra points.

Both of Tucker’s field goals came after the bizarre power outage that delayed the game for over 30 minutes. This is an impressive feat as anything that throws a wrench in the flow of a game can be detrimental to a kicker’s rhythm. Tucker overcame this flawlessly as he drilled both his field goals in the second half. Not to mention the fake field goal attempt in which Tucker came up just short, but took a HUGE hit and got right up!

A product of Westlake High School in Austin, TX. Tucker stayed close to home and attended the University of Texas where starred for the Longhorns.

Tucker has become one of, if not the top kicker in the NFL. The Ravens leaned on him throughout the 2012 playoffs and finally in the Super Bowl!

Congratulations from your extended “kicking” family at Chris Sailer Kicking, we couldn’t be more proud of your success this year!

Tucker’s success has not slowed down through the post season as well converting 2 of 2 field goals and 12 of 12 extra points.  Having a trusted leg in the NFL’s most pivotal moments is key and Baltimore has found that in Tucker.

The 2008 Chris Sailer Kicking Alum played is college ball at the University of Texas where during his senior year made 17 of 21 FGAs (81.0%), including a long of 52 yards…Earned second-team All-Big 12 honors by the Associated Press and won  UT’s Frank Denius Most Valuable Special Teams Player Award.

Michael Geiger commits to Michigan State!

Number 1 ranked Chris Sailer Kicking standout Michael Geiger has committed to Michigan State University. This news comes as a bit of a shock, not cause of Geiger’s talent (he has a ton), but the fact that he was previously committed to Boston College.

The 5’9″ Geiger will have an opportunity to compete for the starting kicker role in 2013, since Michigan State’s current kicker Dan Conroy is a Senior.

Look for Geiger to make an early impact in 2013 for the Spartans!

Dean Crozier has Committed to Rutgers!

Every February, on a yearly trip to Australia to evaluate Australian Punters, Chris Sailer Kicking discovered Dean.  He had only been punting for a few months when we took him on and trained him just February of this year.

During his training, realizing he was a special kicker, he was encouraged to attend our 11th Annual National Kicking Spring Event in Las Vegas, which happens in May.  Coming from Aussie football, he really performed at a high level and impressed everyone.  Chris Sailer Kicking then got him publicity by getting him all over the National Radar for schools looking for a punter of his caliber.

Dean may end up being one of the best punters to ever come through Chris Sailer Kicking.  He has the physical size and strength to dominate the D1 level.  Even though he just has recently picked up punting, he has made tremendous strides in a short amount of time. A big time prospect that has NFL written all over him with hard work.  At 6’7″ tall and 242lbs, he is a very big prospect for kicking!

Dean Crozier is the second of CSK’s Australian Punters to commit in this class (we have 3 per year).  Daniel Cadona committed to Lousiana Lafayette early this year also.

Here is a link to Dean’s Chris Sailer Kicking Profile.  Take note that his National Rank is currently 9th!

Consistency in Coaching: Nick Folk & Kai Forbath

Consistency is the application of something necessary, for the sake of accuracy or achievement, at a level of performance that does not vary greatly in quality. Ask any athlete about one of the most influential aspects of their career and chances are the answer will be directly related to consistency in coaching. This is a point I and other topanking coaches feel strongly about. As an alumnus, and the kicking and punting coach at Notre Dame High school for the past 10 years, it has been my consistency in coaching that has attributed to the success of my current and former players.

Two of my former players, who I had the privilege of coaching during high school, exemplify how natural ability and the importance of the consistency model led to them playing in the NFL.
Nick Folk and Kai Forbath. Both started with me as freshman at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, CA. I was able to help Nick Folk receive a scholarship to Arizona, where he went on to play in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys and currently is a kicker for the New York Jets. Kai Forbath, accepted a scholarship to UCLA and now has a career with the Washington Redskins. Today, both of my former players give back by working on the Chris Sailer Kicking Staff.
Folk and Forbath exemplify two great success stories and model the importance of consistency in coaching. Remember “consistency breads excellence”.
