Chris Sailer Kicking has its First Super Bowl Champion

Chris Sailer Kicking Alum and Baltimore Raven Kicker Justin Tucker is a Super Bowl Champion! Tucker and the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling and event filled Super Bowl last night in New Orleans. Tucker again was instrumental in the Ravens win connecting on 2 of 2 field goals and adding 4 extra points.

Both of Tucker’s field goals came after the bizarre power outage that delayed the game for over 30 minutes. This is an impressive feat as anything that throws a wrench in the flow of a game can be detrimental to a kicker’s rhythm. Tucker overcame this flawlessly as he drilled both his field goals in the second half. Not to mention the fake field goal attempt in which Tucker came up just short, but took a HUGE hit and got right up!

A product of Westlake High School in Austin, TX. Tucker stayed close to home and attended the University of Texas where starred for the Longhorns.

Tucker has become one of, if not the top kicker in the NFL. The Ravens leaned on him throughout the 2012 playoffs and finally in the Super Bowl!

Congratulations from your extended “kicking” family at Chris Sailer Kicking, we couldn’t be more proud of your success this year!

The Value of 1 on 1 Coaching

While practicing with the team is a great way to improve a player’s overall football abilities and helps create a solid base of teamwork, there are certain skills that are hard to master when working in a team situation. Some of the most notable examples of this are kicking and punting. In a normal practice situation, the Kicker does not get the opportunity to utilize these skills as often as is necessary to develop them to their fullest. Additionally, many great football coaches do not have the knowledge necessary to bring out the best in a Kicker or Punter. Because of this, finding 1 on 1 coaching for kicking and punting is essential—to help a player reach his potential.

A professional kicking instructor and kicking camps prove to be the best way to teach this important skill. The best in the business is Chris Sailer Kicking. In addition to providing the coaching necessary to develop the player and bring out the best, Chris Sailer Kicking is THE SOURCE for college recruiting and exposure as well—offering a wellounded package of benefits to up and coming Kickers and Punters of all skill levels.

Stay tuned for updates from our National Events this week in Las Vegas:

3 Chris Sailer Kicking Alums to Play in this Weekend’s NFL Wild Card Playoff Round

This Weekends NFL Wildcard Playoff round has plenty of story lines. One to be noted is the rise of 3 Chris Sailer Kicking Alumni featured in this weekend’s games:

Kai Forbath Kicker for the Washington Redskins just wrapped up one of the finest seasons in the history of the NFL. Forbath set an NFL record for consecutive field goals to begin a career with 17 straight. Forbath and the Skins are playing the Seattle Seahawks this weekend and are looking to avenge their 2007 playoff elimination by the Seahawks.

Minnesota Vikings Rookie Kicker Blair Walsh was named to the 2012 NFC Pro Bowl Team. So far this season Walsh has:

  • Tied a team record for longest field goal — 56 yards (last Sunday in Houston).
  • Put his name in the NFL record books for most 50-plus field goals in a season — nine.
  • Made three 50-plus yard field goals (50, 53, 51) on Dec. 16 against St. Louis, tying an NFL record.
  • Logged the fourth most touchbacks in the league this season (49), which is the Vikings’ franchise record.

Walsh’s NFL record of nine field goals of 50-or more yards (hit on all 9) has put him in some elite company. He passed legendary kickers Morton Anderson, who is a Hall of Fame candidate, and Lions K Jason Hanson, who likely will be when he retires.

Look for Walsh this weekend in a re-match of last weeks game vs. the Green Bay Packers, in which Walsh hit the game winning field goal!

Wrapping up the 3 Chris Sailer Kicking Alums is the Baltimore Ravens Kicker Justin Tucker. Rookie Justin Tucker made 29 of 31 field goals with 48 touchbacks during the 2012 campaign.

Tucker is considered one of if not the top kickers in the AFC and to many was snubbed a Pro Bowl nod. Although, the honor went to 14 year NFL vet Phil Dawson, not bad company for a rookie kicker. Look for Tucker to be in consideration for many Pro Bowls in the future. Tucker and the Ravens will face the Indianapolis Colts this weekend!

Don’t miss these 3 star Kickers in their games this weekend! Three out of the four games this weekend will feature at least one Chris Sailer Kicking Alum!

Redskins Kicker Kai Forbath Sets NFL Record!

Chris Sailer Kicking Alum Kai Forbath continues his fantastic 2012 campaign by setting an NFL record for consecutive field goals to begin a career with 17 straight. The record was previously held by Garret Hartley of the New Orleans Saints. Forbath, kicked field goals of 45 and 42 in last Sundays win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Forbath joined the Redskins after an ineffective Billy Cundiff was released. Forbath won the job on an off day tryout where he beat out veteran kickers Olindo Mare and Josh Brown.

The Chris Sailer Alum is continuing an already outstanding kicking career in which he has already won the Lou Groza Award for the nations top kicker while at UCLA.

Look for Forbath this Sunday as he and the Redskins battle for the division crown versus their longtime rivals the Dallas Cowboys and another former CSK alum Dan Bailey!

Bryan Anger – Mr. Power Leg in Football Kicking

Bryan Anger, a Chris Sailer kicking alum, wasn’t always known as America’s second best football punter in the nation and NFL. That said, he’s regularly made an impression in his football career, starting early on. In his college punting years, Anger made the All-Pac First Team three years straight.

In 2012 he was picked up as a third round draft pick and signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Since then, the rookie has posted 82 punts with an average 47.5 yard distance in 14 games. His overall yardage kicked totals almost 4,000 yards. It’s no surprise his teammates have nicknamed Bryan the moniker, “Banger,” for his powerful kicking leg and consistency.

Some critics are noting Anger needs development on directional kicking, harnessing the apparent power he has in a focused result. This development for now is expected to come with experience and game play, with Bryan having only played one full season so far.

Kai Forbath Hits Game Winner in OT to Beat Ravens!

Washington Redskins and Chris Sailer Kicking Alum Kai Forbath hit the game winning field goal in overtime Sunday to beat the AFC North Leading Baltimore Ravens. Forbath’s kick completed  a must win situation for the Redskins as they are battling for a playoff spot.

Since joining the Redskins the week leading up to their sixth game of the 2012 season, Forbath has made 14 straight field goals including a 48- and 49-yard field goals in the Ravens game. Forbath only needs two more successful makes to tie the NFL record for consecutive field goals made (16) to start a career.

A quote from Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan sums it up perfectly for the Chris Sailer Kicking Alum, “I’m glad he’s on our football team. That’s for sure, he’s made everything, and we gave him a game ball in front of the team. It doesn’t surprise me how he handles himself.”

Dan Bailey Hits Game Winning Field Goal to Beat Bengals!

In an emotional filled game, due to the tragic loss of teammate Jerry Brown the day before, Chris Sailer Kicking Alum Dan Bailey hit a game winning 40 yd. field goal as time ran out to seal the victory for the Cowboys over the Bengals Sunday

Dan Bailey is a 2006 alum of Chris Sailer Kicking. He was a member of the Top 12 and assumed the starting place kicker role for Oklahoma State University in 2007 upon his graduation from kicking camp. After graduating from OSU, Bailey was signed as an undrafted free agent to the Dallas Cowboys in July 2011. Bailey’s first season with the Cowboys was stated to be one of the most successful kicking seasons by a rookie in both the Dallas Cowboys franchise history and NFL league history.

For the 2012 NFL season, Bailey is still at his best. His field goal stats are 100% for field goals attempted between 20 and 49 yards. While he’s only at 50% for field goals of more than 50 yards, his overall field goal average is 92%. While his first year was amazing and left little room for improvement in this area, he’s actually managed to improve by about 4%.

Bailey is an excellent player and an asset for the Cowboys and we will definitely see more good things from him in the future.
