2017 NC Spring Camp Recap – Nicholas Sciba Wins It!

The Chris Sailer Kicking 2017 Spring Camp Tour made its second stop in Charlotte, NC this past weekend.  This is by far the fastest growing location both in talent and attendance as of late.  Nearly 200 specialists participated in this highly competitive camp.  All in all well over fifteen states were represented.  It was clear from the outset that many were set to prove that they were ready to challenge for a TOP 12 spot this coming May in Las Vegas.  Take a look at the results.

Overall Champion
Nicholas Sciba (2018, SC) – The TOP 12 Camp Invitee (January) was steady from start to finish.  As always, he showed up focused and determined to dominate.  He won the field goal competition by demonstrating excellent accuracy and range.  He also finished in the final 3 in the kickoff competition.  This talented combo player (K/P) is proving that he is ready for the next level.  Look for Nicholas to be near the top of college recruiting lists as we enter the summer.

Field Goal Champion
Cameron Shirkey (2020, OH) – Cameron become the first freshman to win a major competition in quite some time.  He hit 7 consecutive field goals, capping it off with a 52-yard competition winner.  This newcomer to Chris Sailer Kicking showed that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.

Kickoff Champion
Trevor Thompson (2018, OH) – The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking Kicker showed off his big leg by winning the kickoff competition with a 68 yard, 3.75 bomb. Trevor continues to prove that he has one of the stronger legs in the 2018 Class.  He has the tools to impress college coaches around the nation.

Punting Champion
Cody Creed (2018, NC) – Cody decided to focus on punting on this day and his decision paid off.  The talented combo player (K/P) has excellent all around ability.  He dominated the punting group by winning 2 of the 3 major competitions, then came through in the final competition nailing several punts over 40 yards with 4.4 plus hang time.  Cody is a special talent that will challenge for a TOP 12 spot this coming May in Las Vegas.

Class of 2017 MVP
Jefferson Norwood – The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking Kicker continues to excel at a new level each time we see him.  He has 55+ yard range on field goals off the ground.  Kickoffs are deep with excellent hang time.  He is also coming into his own as a punter.  Jefferson is absolutely ready for the next level. 2015 NC & GA Spring Camp Recap & Rankings

The 2015 Chris Sailer Kicking Spring Camp Tour continued with stops in the very talented states of North Carolina and Georgia.  There were some outstanding performances and the rankings were directly effected.  Take a look a look at the results and who made waves in the specialist recruiting word.

NC – Keith Duncan (Class of 2016, NC): Keith is one of the most consistent field goals kickers in the nation.  He has a strong leg and kicks with ease off the ground.  He has now won 3 major field goal competitions in the past 2 years.  He also came out on top in Las Vegas last May and in NC this past summer.  His strong performance has landed him inside the Top 20 national prospects in the Class of 2016.

GA – Ruben Guzman (Transfer, CA): The long time Chris Sailer Kicking Punter traveled all the way from California to participate in both Charlotte in Atlanta camps.  He was the punt champion in Charlotte, but fell just short to Duncan in the finals.  He was not to be denied in Atlanta.  He dominated the punt competition again and then defeated a talented Jackson Morris in a head to head final.  Ruben will be attending Grad School and will have one more year to play at the college level.  If you need a punter, Ruben is the guy.

Class of 2015 Standouts:
Cole Fisher (GA): The Chris Sailer Kicking “TOP 12” Member and Mercer commit is a special player.  He is smooth, consistent and steps up under pressure.  I expect big things from Cole at the college level.  Cole will be on student staff this May in Las Vegas.

JD Houston (MS): The junior college prospect was solid as always.  He currently holds college scholarship offers and will be making his decision soon.  JD should enjoy great success at the next level.  He is a very consistent performer.

Matt Barber (PA):  Matt is a very good combo player.  A strong athlete that shows nice skill as both a kicker and punter.  He holds several D1 preferred walk on offers and will be making his college choice very soon.

Logan Howard (NC):  The Western Carolina commit is a talented all around player.  A great athlete that will compete at all skills at the next level.  He has a bright future.

Class of 2016 D1 Scholarship Picks:
Jonn Young (NC): Jonn is one of the most talented combo players in the nation.  The “TOP 12” Member currently holds a scholarship offer from West Virginia.  He should see tons of attention this summer.

Mitchell Wasson (GA): Mitchell has one of the strongest legs in the nation and endless talent.  I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the “TOP 12” Member.  He could be special.

JD Dellinger (NC):  Smooth, strong, atheltic & consistent.  JD holds an offer from Army and should get many more very soon.  The “TOP 12” Member is one of the most consistent performers in the nation.
