The 2017 Chris Sailer Kicking College Camp Was Loaded With Talent!

The 2017 Chris Sailer Kicking College Camp took place in Tampa, FL on July 14-16.  The athletes arrived from all over America on Friday and checked into the Renaissance Tampa International Plaza near the airport.  Saturday began with a 3 hour training session, followed by a 2 hour film breakdown session.  Athletes and staff headed to downtown Tampa for an evening of fun and relaxation.  Sunday kicked off with another 3 hour training session before the specialists returned to the hotel to pack up and head back to their colleges.

The weekend offered a great combination of training and comradery.  This camp was absolutely loaded with talent.  Specialists from the SEC, BIG 12, PAC 12, ACC & more were in attendance.  The competition was intense from start to finish.  Take a look at the results.

CHAMPIONS
Day 1: Eddy Pineiro (Kicker) & Michael Carrizosa (Punter)
Day 2: Aidan Schneider (Kicker) & Michael Carrizosa (Punter)

STANDOUT KICKERS
Eddy Pineiro (Florida) – Eddy is an incredible talent that has NFL written all over him.  Look for Eddy to follow up a tremendous freshman year with another strong sophomore campaign.

Tristan Vizcaino (Washington) – Tristan may just be the most talented all around specialist in the nation.  His ability on field goal, kickoff and punt is off the charts.

Garrett Owens (Iowa State) – Garrett is primed for a huge 2017 season.  The transfer from Oregon State has great NFL ability and he is nails mentally.

Aidan Schneider (Oregon) – Aidan has put together one of the strongest field goals percentages in the history of college football over the past 3 seasons.  Expect greatness this season.

Blanton Creque (Louisville) – Blanton is as smooth and accurate as they come.  He hits a pure ball and has excellent range.  Blanton should be in the Lou Groza Award conversation by seasons end.

Andrew Gantz (Cincinnati) – Andrew is one of the best kicker in the nation.  Very smooth kicker that dominates under pressure.  Andrew should challenge the best in 2017.

Jack Gonsoulin (LSU) – Jack is a big time talent.  He hits an NFL level ball and does well under pressure.  Look for Jack to make some noise at LSU this year.

Cole Murphy (Syracuse) – Cole continues to make big strides.  He has great ability on both field goal and kickoff.  Look for Cole to have a big season this Fall.

Cole Tracy (Assumption) – Cole has proven himself during the season (7 FG’s in one game… twice) and proved himself once again at this camp against the big name college guys.  He is simply a great kicker.

Lorran Fonseca (Nichols State) – Lorran can kick with the best of them.  He hits a big time ball on both field goal and kickoff.  Look for Lorran to dominate this coming season.

Liam Jones (Kansas), Andrew Strauch (UCLA), Jaime Medina (Sacramento State), Kevin Robledo (SMU), Jeffrey Chan (Syracuse), Zach Mays (Cornell), Diego Marquez (Miami), Cole Smith (Cincinnati), Jake Lane (Jacksonville State), Jose Perez (Incarnate Word), Parker Grothaus (Incarnate Word), Jefferson Norwood (Lenoir Rhyne).

STANDOUT PUNTERS
Michael Carrizosa (San Jose State) – Michael is the real deal.  The former Ray Guy Award Finalist has the NFL in his sights.  He absolutely hammers the ball and punts with great consistency.

Shane Tripucka (Texas A&M) – Shane is a fantastic SEC punter.  He had a great 2016 and shows all the signs of building on that in 2017.  He has NFL ability.

Jacob De Maio (Weber State) – Jacob is a great punting talent.  He is big, tall and very strong.  He was excellent in 2016 and should be even better in 2017.

DJ Arnson (Northern Arizona), Taylor Cornish (Missouri Southern State).

The 2017 is a few months away.  Expect greatness from Chris Sailer Kicking specialists.  For more information visit ChrisSailerKicking.com

Chris Sailer Kicking News – 2017 College Camps

Chris Sailer of Chris Sailer Kicking and Chris Rubio of Rubio Long Snapping will NOT be running any college specialist camps during the summer of 2017.  The NCAA has passed a new rule (April 2017) that prohibits us from coaching at these camps.   The SEC, PAC-12,  BIG 12, etc. have informed us that it would be against NCAA rules to hire us, or anyone else that attempts to do what we do, as they have in the past.

Most University specialist camps will proceed as usual, but will simply be run by the college football staffs themselves.  We still encourage attendance at these camps for 2018 prospects.  However, as always we caution you as to how many you choose to attend.  We recommend 3-5 of these camps total.  It is important that you are always fresh and healthy at these camps.  Never snap on back to back days, especially with the travel involved.  Remember, word of mouth will spread very quickly among coaches.  Three to five strong performances will go a long way.  One poor performance will spread even quicker.

Rest assured, Rubio and I will be in communication with nearly every program in the nation. College coaches will know who the top Sailer and Rubio prospects are, well before the camps.  Having said that, be sure to attend camps that match your athletic and academic abilities. Best of luck and be sure to keep us posted on your experiences and performances.

2016 Chris Sailer Kicking IMG College Camp Recap

Chris Sailer Kicking - College Camp at the IMG Academy in Florida

Chris Sailer Kicking – College Camp at the IMG Academy in Florida

Chris Sailer Kicking kicked off the week at the prestigious IMG Academy in FL with the College Camp for 4-Year College Players.  Many of the nation’s best including specialists from the SEC, PAC 12, ACC, BIG 12 Conferences and many more were in attendance to learn and compete with and from the best.  The group included a 2015 Ray Guy Award Finalist, several 2015 Lou Groza Award Semi-Finalists, several 2016 preseason Ray Guy Award Watch List Members & several 2016 Lou Groza Award preseason Watch List Members.  Take a look at the impressive results.

Field Goal Champion: Garrett Owens (Oregon State) – Garrett has been a Chris Sailer Kicking student for 7 years now.  He has had great success at Oregon State and enters his junior year as one to watch.  He has an NFL leg and outstanding long term potential.  Field goals are outstanding.  He is a competitor that kicks with huge confidence.  His kickoffs are also elite.  Expect big things.  Garrett has the tools to earn All PAC 12 honors this coming season.

Runner Up: Eddy Pineiro (Florida) – Eddy has as much potential as anyone in the nation entering the 2016 season.  He has perhaps the quickest leg that I have seen in my 16 years of coaching specialists.  Although he has never kicked in a college game, the expectations are high.  I have a strong feeling he will live up to the hype.  He has 60 plus yard field goal range (with no wind) and drills kickoffs 75 plus yards (with no wind) with ease.  He is ready!

Kickoff Champion: Tristan Vizcaino (Washington) – Talent like this does not come along often.  He has one of the strongest legs in all of college football, if not the strongest.  He also has NFL potential as both a kicker and punter.  He won the kickoff competition by nailing a 96 yard, 4.21 second hang time kickoff (moderately wind aided).  He hit several kickoffs out of the endzone with over 4.40 second plus hang time. He has huge range on field goals and gets elite height on his ball.  He also smashes punts with great consistency.  He hit several balls well over 55 yards with 5.00 second hang times.  The long time Chris Sailer Kicking student will be a real force in the PAC 12 this coming season.

Runner Up: Elliott Fry (South Carolina) – Elliott enters his senior year as one of the top NFL prospects in the nation.  He has had a great college career to date and looks to dominate the SEC once again.  He has worked with Chris Sailer Kicking now for 6 years and it shows in his confidence.  He has great range on field goals and gets outstanding height on his ball.  His kickoffs are elite and ready to compete at the NFL level.  Elliott should wrap up his college career this upcoming season with great success.

Punt Champion: Colby Wadman (UC Davis) – Colby has now won this competition back-to-back years.  The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking student defeated several highly touted punters for the championship once again.  He has a big time leg and punts with excellent consistency.  Colby has great control of the ball and directional punts with ease.  He enters his senior year as a legitimate NFL prospect.

Runner Up: Michael Carrizosa (San Jose State) – The 2015 Ray Guy Award Finalist was within one punt of winning the event.  He was 2nd in the nation last year with a 47.5 yard punting average.  He proved once again that you can expect the same type of performance for the 2016 season.  He also smashes kickoffs.  The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking student should continue to dominate the college level as he prepares for future NFL success.

Other Top Performers: Aidan Schneider (Oregon), Alex Woznick (South Carolina), Bennett Moehring (Navy), Cole Murphy (Syracuse), Jack Gonsoulin (LSU), Kyle Bambard (NC State).

Many younger, less established K/P’s attended that you will hear big things from in the future.

The week at the IMG Academy continues tomorrow with the “TOP 12” & “Event Elite” camp.  This camp will feature the very best kickers/punters at the high school/junior college level in America.  The week will conclude with Underclassmen Invitational which will feature nearly 200 specialists from the Classes of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Chris Sailer Kicking – COLLEGE CAMP

Every year, Chris Sailer Kicking and Rubio Long Snapping hold a College Camp for all the Kickers, Punters and Long Snappers that are currently playing at a 4-Year College and/or headed to play at a 4-Year College. This summer, we simply could not find a suitable time to run one SO we have come up with the following plan….

Any Kicker, Punter and/or Long Snapper that is currently at a 4-Year College and/or headed to a 4-Year College can come to any of our personal camps (IL, GA, NC, TX, CA, Underclassmen Event) for free to work with Sailer / Rubio and also assist with younger specialists. This is a great way to knock off the rust, get ready for the season and inspire the next generation. You will get all of the instruction throughout the day, but simply won’t be able to partake in the competitions. Plus, it will require less travel, this summer, for the college athletes.

We will definitely try to create a block of time next summer for the College Camp but, until then, just contact Chris Sailer (818) 818-209-8921 or Chris Rubio 626-260-2524 to join us this summer.

Los Angeles, CA – June 21-22
Chicago, IL – July 13
Dallas, TX – July 15
Charlotte, NC – July 26
Atlanta, GA – July 27
Los Angeles, CA – July 30

Questions Regarding the College Camps

As you know, hopefully, Chris Rubio and I have posted the schedule of college camps we will be running this summer. Trust me when I tell you, we could have run another 50 of them for the coaches that asked us, but we simply don’t have time. You see, we will personally be at each one of these camps. We will not send someone in our place. We will be at each and every one, plus our camps and the FBU Camps.

Here are the top five questions regarding the college camps….

  1. How do you get invited?  You don’t. They are open to all 9th graders – juniors. Some schools might be a tad different so check on their respective site. Younger Kicker/Punters should focus on the regional Chris Sailer Kicking one day camps and FBU camps run by Chris Sailer Kicking.
  2. How do I sign up for the camp(s)?  You go to their football site and register. You can also call the football office.
  3. At what age do you recommend my son goes to a college camp?  The time to shine will be in between his junior and senior summer (unless you are a freak, in a good way, and then I would highly recommend dominating between sophomore and junior year). However, I personally recommend going as early as possible to cut the jitters. It can be very stressful kicking/punting in front of a high profile coach and you want to get the feeling out of the way early, when they most likely won’t be paying attention to you.
  4. Will the camp(s) be run like your personal camps?  Not really. I am hired to run their camp so I am on their schedule. But we will organize these camps as best as possible, very similar to what you see at Chris Sailer Kicking camps.  Note:  If you are at a college camp that I am not running, godspeed.
  5. Will you be ranking from the college camps?  No. Per NCAA rules, I am not allowed to rank and/or evaluate from the college camps. You could be absolutely phenomenal and I would not be able to rank you or invite to the “TOP 12” and “EVENT ELITE” Camp. If you are at a college camp and someone does invite you to their “invite only” camp, they are breaking a very big rule.
  6. Read two recent blogs that I wrote about college camps that you will find very beneficial.  1. Information on College Camps: CLICK HERE 2. What to do before, after and during a college camp: CLICK HERE

If you any other questions, please feel free to email me Chris@ChrisSailerKicking.com or Text me at 818-209-8921.

College Camps, How to Act?

If you are attending a college camp this summer, here are a few tips to help you maximize the experience and get noticed for the right reasons.

  • Always go in with a positive outlook. Positive attitudes will not just help you mentally, it can help a coach evaluate you as someone he would like on his team.

  • Get rid of distractions. Camp is important and it deserves your full attention. Focus on the task at hand and not on your smart phone. This means paying attention even when you are not the focus…because you just might be! Always act as if your coach is standing behind you.
  • Remain calm and stay confident. Coaches watch for how you react to negativity. This includes missing kicks. Keep your head up and maintain a “get ‘em next time” attitude.
  • Maintain your respect and listen to suggestions. “Yes sir coach, let me try that” is a simple way you can show respect for the coaches position AND for what he is saying. Coaches don’t expect you to be as good today as you are going to be tomorrow. Let them know you are willing and eager to improve.
  • Always compete at your best. Most coaches are more competitive than their players. They will respect a player who is always giving their best.

Remember, you are not in your hometown anymore. Players at college camps will have skills that can surprise you. You are literally “Kicking it up a notch”. Chris Sailer Kicking wishes you success!

College Camps – Part 2

College Camps – Part 2

It is that time of year again.  College Camps begin this weekend.  I wrote a blog on what to expect last year at College Camps.  Before reading this, make sure to go back and read my blog on COLLEGE CAMPS.

This blog will focus on exactly what to do before, during, and after a college camp.

Before
1. Be realistic when it comes to which camps to attend.  If you want to attend these camps simply to enjoy being on a college campus, that is fine, but there is no reason to read this blog any further.  Make no mistake about it, these camps are tryouts for that school.  If you are not a prospect at that level, you will NOT be looked at.  Advice: If you have been ranked a 4.5 Star Chris Sailer Kicking player or higher, the D1A camps are for you.  If you have been ranked a 3.5 Star Chris Sailer Kicking player or higher, the D1AA – D3 camps are for you.

2. Contact the Special Teams Coach AND Recruiting Coordinator about 2-3 weeks before attending.  Do so via email and phone call.  The odds of them answering your phone call are slim, but call and leave a message anyway.  The intent of the call and email is to inform them that you will be attending their camp and expressing your interest in the program.  The more they hear your name and intentions, the better.  Feel free to include in your email: general info, GPA, Test Scores, References (Chris Sailer – 818-209-8921) & YouTube Highlight Video Link.

3. Set up an unofficial visit a week, two days or even a day prior to camp.  Make a trip of it.  You can do so by calling the football office.  You will get to see the campus, meet with academic counselors, see football facilities, and possibly even meet with a football coach.  This is HUGE.  Not only will you see if the school is a fit for you, but you are showing your strong interest, and making your name known to the program.

During
1. Find a good time to say hello to the Special Team Coach and / or any coach that you met on your unofficial visit.  Simply introduce or reintroduce yourself and tell them how excited you are to be there and show them what you can do.  Make sure to find the right time.  There is a right time.  This should be you and you alone, not your parents or coach.

2. Be ready to kick / punt many balls.  There will be a lot of kids at these camps.  It is not easy to get noticed.  Watch your reps and kick / punt when the time is right.  Quality over Quantity.  If you are someone they are looking at / recruiting, believe me when I say that they will see every kick that you hit.  There are eyes everywhere (even the sky).

3. Great programs will be watching your attitude and character more than your actual performance with a football.  What do you do when you shank a ball?  Who are you hanging out with? How do you warm up? What do you do when you win a competition?  What do you do when you lose a competition?  Which kicks are you choosing to kick / not kick?  How are reacting to coaching?  Are you paying attention at the meetings?  What are you doing at lunch time?  This list goes on and on and on.  If the answer is negative to any one of these questions, the guy next to you got the scholarship.

4. No matter what happens, stay positive.  You will get your chance.  Yes, there may be bigger names than yours coming into camp, but that doesn’t mean that they will be the bigger name leaving the camp.  Whether you think they are looking or not, you will get the chance to chart and compete in competitions.  Simple: STEP UP and you will get noticed.

5. Fine the right time to say goodbye and thank you to the staff, especially the Special Teams Coach, any other University Coach, and the Kicking/Punting Coach.  They are watching and still recruiting. It is easy.  Shake their hand, and say, “Thanks again coach for the opportunity to attend the camp.  My name is …… and I really enjoyed the camp and love the school”.

After
1. Follow up.  Wait a week or two and follow up with an email and phone call.  This is a chance to once again express your interest in the school, ask for an evaluation of your performance, and let them know that you would enjoy staying in touch and coming to a game in the Fall.

2. At the end of summer, call / email again and let them know how your summer went.  Also let them know that you would like to be added to their recruit list for the upcoming season so that you can attend the games.  Let them know that they are on your very short list of schools.

Good Luck!
