What Does a Graduating Kicker / Punter Do?

Say you are one of the lucky ones that will be playing football next year for a four year university, what do you do now?

You get better! You don’t rest on your laurels. You make sure you are as prepared as possible when entering college so the coaches know you are serious and ready to take over the reigns for the next two to four years of your life. Nothing will upset a coach more than a recruited athlete coming in unprepared. That is essentially your first impression to the new staff at your new school and that can easily set you up, in the wrong way, for years to come. Don’t be that guy!

Yes, you are allowed to, and could be attending my Kicking / Punting Camps from now until you report to camp for your school….and you should. Going to a camp right before you head off will polish off the rough edges, fine tune you and build your confidence.

You want a more advanced camp with only college level Kicker / Punters? You can attend the College Camp for Kickers / Punters on July 19-21 in CA. It will be structured just like the TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE camp but with no current HS players. All participants will be either 2013/JC heading to a four year university or a current college Kicker / Punters already doing what you believe, think and hope you are ready for in a couple short months.

Regardless, be prepared and don’t just sit. You got into college, but you have done nothing there….yet. See you soon!

CSK Class of 2014 #1 Kicker Wunderlich Offered!

It didn’t take long.  After a dominating performance in Las Vegas in January and subsequent #1 ranking and “TOP 12” announcement, Chris Sailer Kicking Class of 2014 prospect Gary Wunderlich has picked up his first offer from Virginia.  Gary excels at the kicking position, but also impresses as a punter.  A great athlete that should dominate at the next level.  This should be the first of many more offers to come.  Expect a busy off season with plenty of updates for Wunderlich.  Which “TOP 12” Member will be offered next?

The Value of Exposure

The Definition of Exposure is: the condition of being presented to view or to be made known.

This definition couldn’t be more relevant to the ultra-competitive landscape of High School Football and College Recruiting. It is more important now than ever to expose your talents to various Universities looking for top-level talent. Obviously, there are many ways to do this especially with the rise of various technologies like YouTube, Social Media and recruiting websites. However, this is not enough, you need to surround yourself with camps, organizations and people who are connected to these various Universities and whose opinions and recommendations are taken into the highest of consideration.

Chris Sailer Kicking is this Organization. CSK offers the MOST exposure in the country for high school Kickers and Punters. When a College Football Program is looking for a top level Kicker or Punter CSK is its first stop. Chris Sailer Kicking covers all aspects of exposure for its players including; Camps, National Events, Online Media, Player Rankings, Player Profiles, Social Media and probably the most important is the relationships CSK has with major College Football programs.

This has never been more evident than the recent story of Nicolas O’Toole. O’Toole was a virtually unknown Punter at Fullerton JC in Southern California. That all changed in a matter of days after attending the Chris Sailer Kicking National Event last month, where O’Toole performed at a very high level. This performance landed him a Top 12 ranking by Chris Sailer. Major College Football programs wait for this covenant list to come out after every one of CSK’s National Events to see who is ranked where and which players are still available. O’Toole was snatched up immediately by West Virginia University and was offered a fullide scholarship as a Punter.  Click Here to read more about O’Toole.

Exposure: the condition of being presented to view or to be made known.

Marsh Commits, Guzman Offered!

Signing date had passed.  Kickers, Punters, and Long Snappers alike believed that all scholarships were now given and accepted.  But like Chris Rubio and I always say, the fun is about to begin.  This past week 2 more Chris Sailer Kicking Kicker / Punters received full scholarships offers from big time programs.  Congratulations to Nick Marsh and Ruben Guzman.

Nick Marsh
IMG_2985
Marsh is a transfer from Utah.  We began training Nick as a sophomore in high school.  He called me in December 2012 and asked for help.  I told him to get to Vegas and the rest should take care of itself.  He was a man amongst boys in Vegas, totally dominating in all aspects of the game.  His reward…. a full scholarship to Rutgers signed just this last weekend.

Ruben Guzman
IMG_2875
Guzman is a JC punter from Riverside.  Ruben has come a long way in the past couple of years.  At 5’9″, he wasn’t the ideal choice for college coaches.  I asked him to remain patient and to continue to work harder than every.  Ruben did just that.  He trained weekly with Aaron Perez and came to every camp and small group session.  Then finally, he dominated Vegas.  His reward…. a full scholarship offer from Wyoming earlier this week.

This is just 2 examples of the many Chris Sailer Kicking & Rubio Long Snapping Kickers, Punters, and Long Snappers that have signed these past few weeks.  The good news is, there are MANY more to come.  Make sure to read SIGNING DATE HAS PASSED, WHAT NOW? for more advice, and you just might be the next to sign a scholarship.  There is a college football program (800+) and degree out there for every one of you.  Time to make it happen!

Signing Date Has Passed…..What Now?

Signing Date Has Passed…..What Now?

First of all congratulations to the many Chris Sailer Kicking Students that were fortunate to sign scholarships to play college football.  Some committed early on, such as Matt Wogan to Oregon, and some were awarded scholarship offers late, such as Nicholas O’Toole to West Virginia, this past week!  Getting a college scholarship is a huge accomplishment and I congratulate you all.

However, like we have always said, when it comes to kickers, punters, and long snappers, it is NEVER too late.  Yes, another wave of recruiting has passed, but another is now set to begin.  Signing date has passed, so you are asking the question, “What Now”?  It is not time to cry, to panic, to quit. It is time to focus knowing that only the top 5-10% or so of specialists have made their college choices.  Over the course of the next several months, college coaches will need to find specialists.  They will begin to panic and if you have been keeping up your contacts, they will come looking for you.  You will find a home.

Yes, most D1A Scholarships have been awarded and signed.  That’s okay.  Some will still be available based on numbers, ineligibility, and injuries.  Many D1AA, D2, and D3 scholarships are now available.  Reach out to schools of all levels that fit your needs both academically and socially.  There is money out there.  You will find a school to play football that will ultimately land you a college degree.

Here is my advice:

1. Create a huge email list of college coaches.  Send them an email saying this… “Dear Coach, my name is (fill in the blank).  I have a strong interest to play college football for your program.  I would love the opportunity to compete and win a job on your team.  If possible, can I visit the campus in the near future and show you that my desire to play for you in sincere.  Please take a minute to view my highlight video link and brief bio showing my qualifications.  Contact Chris Sailer, my kicking coach, as a reference (818-209-8921).  Looking forward to hearing from you.

The key is not to ask for a scholarship.  Ask for an opportunity to play.

2. Make calls.  Say the same thing as above.  If the coach doesn’t answer, state the above on their voice mail.

3. Make visits.  Get yourself on their campus.  Try to meet coaches in person.  Show them that your interest in sincere.

4. If there is a school that you have already been accepted to academically, use this to your advantage.  Let the coach know because it makes his life a whole lot easier.

Recruiting is a process.  It takes time.  But the reward at the end of all the hard work in well worth it.  Believe me when I say that there is a great school out there for you where you can thrive academically, socially, and athletically.  Time to get to work and find the right fit.  Many doors will continue to open and shut.  Do not get frustrated.  Stick to the plan.  There is light at the end of the tunnel if you stay the course.

Looking forward to the receiving your commitment emails.  I will be the first to congratulate you!

3 More Late Commitments for CSK

As always kickers and punters pick up late scholarships.  Here are 3 more Chris Sailer Kicking commitments.

Connor Derby – Central Washington
A top national kicker, Connor will head to Central Washington to become the starting kicker and punter.  Due to academics and eligibility the 5 star kicker couldn’t sign a D1A scholarship.  This is a great fit for him!

Tyler Sarrazin – Southern Miss
A top combo prospect, Tyler fills many needs for Southern Miss.  Spoke with the Special Teams Coordinator and Tyler was the perfect fit for what they needed.  He should be a very productive player for them over the years.

Colby Wadman – UC Davis
The “Event Elite” Punter steps into a perfect situation at UC Davis.  CSK has been sending players to Davis for years now.  They really take care of their players and offer a tremendous education.  I am happy for Colby.

More to come…. who is next?
