2016 CA Fall Camp Recap, CSK Veteran Kevin Robledo Dominates!

The road to Vegas XXIX continued this past Sunday in Sherman Oaks, CA.  The 2016 Fall Camp Tour is officially half way over.  CA provided the most talent to date.  Nearly 200 specialists from the West Coast and beyond were in attendance hoping to rise to the top.  Take a look at the results.

img_1801Overall Camp Champion: Kevin Robledo (JC, CA)
The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking student put in a dominating performance.  He came out on top for both the field goal and kickoff competitions.  He went 8-8 on field goals from 35 to 57 yards to win it.  He then hit several kickoffs 70-78 yards with 4.0 to 4.3 second hang time.  His best ball was 76 yards, 4.30 hang time.  Kevin is a bounce back from Florida State that continues to prove that he is ready for D1 football.

Eric did a great job competing with best of the best.  He is big, tall, strong and athletic.  He went 7-7 on field goals with a long of 55 yards to win the competition.  He is a great competitor that always does his best under pressure.  Eric has put in many strong performances with Chris Sailer Kicking and is proving that he is a top prospect in his class.

img_2416Punt Champion: Austin McGehee (JC, CA)
Austin is another longtime Chris Sailer Kicking specialist.  He is a bounce back from Arkansas that is now playing at the junior college level.  He crushed the ball with consistency all day.  He easily averages 40 plays yards and 4.5 plus hang time.  He also shows the ability to hit a big ball.  Austin is a confident player that does well under pressure.  Look for Austin to play D1 ball again in the near future.

2016 WA Fall Camp Recap, Newcomer Obi Eriza Wins It!

The Chris Sailer Kicking Fall Camp Tour made its most recent stop in Seattle, WA.  This region of the nation is bringing more and more talent to the table with each camp we run here.  This was the largest turnout yet in the Northwest and the talent did not disappoint.  The results rivaled previous fall camps in IL, FL & PA.  On a beautiful day, with near perfect conditions the following athletes stood out.

Overall Camp Champion
img_2388Obi Eriza (2017) – It is rare that a first time Chris Sailer Kicking camp attendee wins it all, but Obi accomplished exactly that.  He was solid during the morning session and caught my eye as someone to watch.  He stepped up in the afternoon and won the last man standing field goal competition.  He then defeated Mark Kharchenko and Manuel Leonzo in the semi-finals and finals respectively.  He is a talented athlete with a strong leg.  Look for Obi to one day challenge at the college level.

img_2399Manuel Leonzo (2017) – Manuel has now performed at a high level at several Chris Sailer Kicking camps.  He hits a pure ball off the ground on field goals and shows 50+ yard range.  He is also strong on kickoffs averaging 60-65 yards with 3.7+ hang time.  Manuel is an excellent talent that will star for a college football program.

 

Kickoff Champion / Punt Champion
img_2376Mark Kharchenko (2017) – Mark was one of the best all around talents at the camp.  He punted majority of the day and dominated the competitions.  He averages well over 40 yards with 4.3+ hang time.  A big, tall, strong athlete that has the frame and skill to be an outstanding college punter.  He also won the kickoff competition by hitting several balls into the end zone from the 35 yard line with 3.7+ hang time.  Look for Mark to contribute as a P/KO combo player at the next level.

Top 2017 Prospect
img_1390Kyle Sentkowski – The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking student and 2-Time “Event Elite” Member put in another solid performance.  He has 55+ yard range on field goals off the ground.  Kickoffs are strong and continue to be near the top of his class.  Kyle is also establishing himself as a legitimate college punting prospect.  Kyle is mentally strong and shows every sign of being ready for D1 football.

Next Best: Tyler Padilla – Talented combo player K/P.

Top 2018 Prospect
img_2394Conor Calvert – Conor continues to develop at a fantastic pace.  He has attended several Chris Sailer Kicking camps over the years.  He hits a smooth and accurate ball on field goals.  He won the Class of 2018 kickoff competition with a 63 yard, 3.6 yard kickoff.  He is also a capable punter.  Conor is proving that he will one day be a great college player.

 

Next Best: Holden Kooiker – Excellent athlete with a strong leg.

Top 2019 Prospects
Bryce Law & Tanner Shattuck – Both athletes proved worthy of this recognition.  Bryce has one of the stronger legs in his class and shows great ability as both a kicker and punter.  Tanner did very well on field goal and then stepped up to win the Class of 2019 kickoff competition.  Both are future stars.

Next Best: David Eisenkraft – Has the tools to challenge the best in his class.

Why Vegas, Reason Number…..

The Lou Groza Award was established in 1992 to recognize the top place kicker in college football each year.  In 1997, I was myself fortunate enough to be a part of the festivities.  As one of the three finalists I was invited to West Palm Beach, FL.  I witnessed first hand the professionalism surrounding the prestigious award.  I made it a goal, even then, to one day help other athletes experience what I was able to.  Fast forward six years and Vegas was created.

Vegas was created in 2003 to establish credible rating standards for high school kickers/punters. Vegas provided the ultimate exposure, which in turn created opportunity for thousands to follow.  Some of the goals/objectives that I had written down then were: exposure, national rankings, college opportunity, scholarships, Lou Groza Award winners, NFL Draftees, larger NFL contracts, etc.  Fast forward to 2016 and …… mission accomplished.  There is still a ways to go, but progress has been made each and every year thanks to Vegas.

Since 2003, six Vegas participants have gone on to win the Lou Groza Award.  Even more impressive, six of the past nine Lou Groza Award Winners were Vegas participants.  Take a look:

George Triplett Wins It All in Pittsburgh!

The Chris Sailer Kicking Fall Camp Circuit is now in full swing.  The most recent camp took place this past Sunday in Pittsburgh, PA.  Specialists from several east coast states were in attendance to get instruction and compete.  The level of talent was strong in all age levels.  There was also a solid mix of Chris Sailer Kicking newcomers and veterans.  Take a look at the results….

George Triplett (2018, WV) – The Chris Sailer Kicking veteran had an extremely impressive performance from start to finish.  He excels in all three areas of the game and proved it on this day.  He won a major field goal competition and also came out on top on kickoffs.  He has 50+ yard range on field goals, averages 65 yards on kickoffs with 3.75 hang time and consistently punts with a 40+ yard average and 4.4+ hang time.  George is going to be a fine college level player.

Field Goal Champion
Gavin Costello (2018, OH) – Gavin has only been kicking for 6 weeks.  After a few lessons with Chris Sailer Kicking instructor Drew Basil, he was ready to go in Pittsburgh.  He is a naturally gifted athlete with a very strong leg.  He nailed 6 consecutive field goals ranging from 30 to 53 yards to win the competition.  Gavin has only scratched the surface of what he is capable of.  The future is bright with continued hard work.

Punt Champion
Koby Keifer (2018, WV) – Koby was one of the most impressive overall performers on the day.  He is an excellent combo (K/P) prospect.  On this day he came out on top in the punting competition by consistently hitting balls 45+ yards with 4.4+ second hang time.  He was also strong on field goals, showing 50+ yard range and kickoffs, driving the ball deep into the end zone.  Look for Koby to compete with the best in his class this coming January in Las Vegas.

TOP 2018 Prospects
Justin Smith (2018, OH) – The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking specialist continues to improve at an impressive rate.  Coming off an excellent showing in Chicago last month, he backed it up with another strong performance in Pittsburgh.  He was a finalist in nearly every competition and could have easily won it.

Zach Sterr (2018, NJ) – Zach had perhaps the strongest leg at the entire camp.  He has attended several Chris Sailer Kicking camps and continues to improve each time we see him.  He shows D1 potential in all 3 areas (FG, KO & Punt).  Great things lie ahead for Zach with continued hard work.

FL Fall Camp Recap, Perez & Onate Dominate!

The road to Vegas XXIX and the “TOP 12” Camp rolled on in Melbourne, FL this past weekend.  Chris Sailer Kicking Senior Staff Member Obi Egekeze lead the way for Florida’s best. Take a look at the results.

Jose became one of the first newcomers to Chris Sailer Kicking to win a regional camp in some time.  The talented athlete stepped up from start to finish.  He has excellent natural ability and one of the stronger legs in this class.  On this day he won two of the four major competitions.  He nailed multiple long range field goals to win the field goal competition and hit some big time kickoffs to win the kickoff competition.  Jose is a special talent that college coaches will soon know about.

 

Runner Up: Frankie Onate (2017, FL)
The longtime Chris Sailer Kicking student was steady as always.  He continues to prove that he is ready for the D1 level.  On this day he won both the field and punt competitions.  Frankie has 55 yard range off the ground, he drives balls deep into the end zone on kickoffs and he he is a capable and dependable punter.  Frankie is going to be a great player at the FBS level.

Top 2018 Prospect: Javan Rice (FL)
Javan had another solid day of camp.  He has a great leg and shows excellent potential for the next level.  He does a nice job on both field goal and kickoff.  Javan is an athlete with a bright future.  Look for Javan to compete with the best in Las Vegas in January.

Top Youth Prospect: Carter Davis (FL)
Carter continues to do well on the Chris Sailer Kicking camp circuit.  He was recently named an FBU Class of 2021 All-American at TOP GUN this past July.  He was excellent once again in Melbourne.  Carter is a hard working young man with a bright future.
